Meet Our Team
The dedicated staff at Clayton Veterinary Hospital includes our excellent doctors, who are highly skilled and experienced, as well as the supportive team members who help keep our operations running smoothly. Our diverse staff ranges from seasoned veterans of veterinary medicine, who bring years of knowledge and expertise, to enthusiastic undergraduate students who are gaining valuable experience as they prepare for their future careers in veterinary medicine. This passionate and compassionate group is committed to ensuring that all of our patients receive the highest quality care and the love they deserve during their time with us.
Dr. Bradley Speed
Dr. Brad worked at Reeves Hardware as a store clerk through high school and was active as a junior firefighter with the Warwoman Volunteer Fire department from middle school through graduation. He became a certified interior firefighter during college and still tries to be active with the fire department when not at the clinic.
He attended the University of Georgia for his undergraduate degree, where he majored in Animal Science with a minor in Dairy Science. He was president of the UGA Block and Bridle Club. He did research in cattle reproduction, and was inducted into the Brass Gavel Leadership Society.
During vet school he was president of Omega Tau Sigma, a professional Veterinary Fraternity. He was also voted “Class Clown” by his class.
Following vet school, Dr. Brad worked a year at Thomasville Animal Hospital and 4 years at Country Side Veterinary Services in Jersey, GA. He then took the opportunity to move home and worked at Rabun Animal Hospital for 5 years before purchasing Clayton Veterinary Hospital from Dr. John Woodward in September of 2021.
Dr. John Woodward
Dr. John is a veteran of veterinary medicine, with over 40 years in the field. He attended University of Tennessee for his undergraduate and Auburn School of Veterinary Medicine for his doctorate. Dr. John has worked in a plethora of practices throughout his career, starting in Sweet Water Tennessee, moving to Uelaski, Tennessee, relocating to Saint Petersburg, Flordia, making a big location shift to Tilamook, Oregon, and finally settling in Clayton in the ‘80s. Dr. John purchased Clayton Veterinary Hospital on May 1st 1982. After selling the practice and entering retirement in September of 2021, Dr. John decided to exit retirement and to continue to practice on a more limited basis in order to enjoy both the liberty of retirement but also the structure of work.
Jessica
Jessica, who joined Clayton Veterinary Hospital as a receptionist in 2023, is a warm and welcoming presence. When she's not at work, she loves spending time with her grandchildren and cooking. Originally from Rabun County, she thrives in coordinating the bustling environment at the hospital and finds fulfillment in bringing order to the chaos.
Megan
Megan is a Rabun County Local who has been with CVH since 2022. She enjoys assisting the doctor with your pets treatments, vaccines, and blood draws. During her free time she enjoys spending time with her friends, family, and animals.
Kayla
Kayla has been with CVH since 2024. As a veterinary assistant she enjoys working with animals and assisting the doctor with patient treatments and vaccines. During her free time she enjoys spending time with her family, fishing, and her kitty Mango.
Kendall
Kendall has been with CVH since 2022 as a veterinary assistant. She has been in veterinary medicine since 2019. She graduated WCU in 2019 with a Bachelor of Science degree, focusing on a pre-veterinary track. She enjoys assisting in surgery, running lab work and helping the doctors and clients with animal care. Outside of work she enjoys spending time with her family and enjoying the outdoors.
Dre
Dre is originally from Ojai, California and has been with CVH since 2024. She has worked in the veterinary field as a vet assistant since 2012. Dre enjoys assisting the doctors in surgery and working in the lab. She enjoys gardening, and tending to her chickens and goats on her spare time.
Mary
Mary is a Rabun County Local who has been with CVH since 2025. She enjoys assisting the doctors with patient treatment and vaccines. On her free time she enjoys hanging out with friends, family, and her dog Earl.
Heather
Heather joined the CVH team as our Licensed Vet Tech in 2025. She is a valuable member to our surgical team and also enjoys helping with patient care and lab work. During her free time she enjoys spending time with her family and 3 dogs.
